Coming Home

It has always been this way
Whenever I visit The Cove
I've always felt like I've come home.

There has never been a part of nature that has tugged at my heart as much as the ocean.  Most especially at the beaches in La Jolla.

This is where we always used to relax (back in the day when we lived in La Jolla), to absorb the powerful peace from the ocean waves. Somehow I knew not to ever take it for granted.

  1. Nancy, can you believe I was right here as you posted? Whew, I felt like I was on a jet.
This post is extraordinary, absolutely artful! And the music couldn't have been more perfect with it. I have never been to La Jolla, but after seeing this, ooooooo, I want to.
By the way, thank you so much for all your loving comments on my page. You really are the only one I know that actually "gets it" and I appreciate that so much. The days are getting a bit better, but there are still some of those moments that sneak up with no warning. You know the ones. But at least I do find myself remembering and talking more about the hysterically funny things that were so Mom. We used to call them Gloriaisms. Man, she was funny.
I'm glad we are friends, Nancy. You are a true jewel.
    XOXOXO

  4. Jenny - that was too funny, showing up when you did. You are going through a difficult time right now, so go easy on yourself. I wish I could have known your mom, I'd love to have heard some Gloriaisms. I'm glad we're friends, too!

Kim - Yes, I did take the photos, thanks. I have a couple of photos of your mom and dad at Jose's I will post on facebook soon. Love you.

Toods - I know what you mean about missing Lake Michigan. I didn't get to visit the Cove for 7 years. It was wonderful when we went back. Water is so soothing, even when the waves are crashing. I can just see you poking your toes in the sand. Love ya!

  6. Your brief words and photographs have trasported me to a beautiful place today, Nancy. I am not surprised by your abilities each time you share your photos and essays; you're a true artist, a gifted writer. Thank you for sharing your thoughts and these powerful images.

People who have been there have been telling me about the ocean for years, sis. In my imagination I have created my own virtual ocean--I can hear it, smell and taste it, and feel the spray of it. I can even imagine the call of the marine birds and visualize dolphins and whales leaping and dancing there. I'm blessed to have a vivid imagination, but I would give just about anything to have seen what you and others have seen from the beaches there.

    Some day, sis...some day.

    I love you.
